This is a multifunctional space used by a foundation that aims to connect people to participate in society. The space was great, with good lighting and without major limitations. However the existing layout did not accommodate the different functions they required (socializing, lectures, art courses). It also lacked the welcoming feeling that was so important to them. We also needed to consider that the people who would attend the place have limitations and the environment should not over-stimulate.

Project

The meeting room was located in a squared room (all white), with squared windows and doors and squared cupboards.

To turn it into a more lively room we used wood (a warm material) soft colors and lots of plants.

I also introduced rounded forms as chairs, tables, lamps, and wall painting. With these changes a formal meeting room was transformed in a welcoming space for socializing and doing group activities.

Moodboard

Layout

Originally the space was filled with rectangular tables, and their position was modified according to the activity.

In this room takes place meetings of employees, lectures for volunteers, arts courses, socialization events, as well as reception of people, among other events.

The idea in the new layout was to create a separate space for courses and meetings and one for socializing - sort of living room with space for coffee and magazines.

The division between the two parts was made with movable wooden panels and plants, to give flexibility in case the space needed to be used in another way.
